History

Euonymus japonicus ‘Green Spire’ is a member of the Celastraceae plant family and is native to Japan. In the wild, it grows in woodlands and is especially good by the sea. It was introduced in the UK in 1804 but has been growing in the Isles of Scilly since 1897.

Cultivation

Euonymus japonicus ‘Green Spire' is widely cultivated as an ornamental outdoor plant as well as a hedge plant. It is also widely used for containers or window box planting schemes.

Care

Euonymus japonicus ‘Green Spire' should be kept in a sunny position with some light shade. It requires a moderate amount of water without letting its soil get waterlogged. It will benefit from being fed in spring and summer with a slow-release fertiliser.
