Hydrangeas are rounded, bush-like shrubs that produce large heads of dense blue flowers from June to August. Native to Asia and the Americas, Hydrangea is an extremely popular outdoor plant, found in gardens across the UK and Europe.
Height is measured from the bottom of the plastic nursery pot (please allow a +/-10% variance). Diameter is the nursery pot diameter, so to get a pot that fits, the pot diameter should be bigger.

Keep me in a sheltered spot, out of harsh winds. I am happiest in partial sun or dappled shade.
Ensure my soil is kept moist throughout the spring and summer. I do not like to dry out.
Trim back any dead flowers in spring, to encourage strong new growth in summer.
Hydrangeas were first cultivated in Japan, first being introduced to Eurpose in the 1700s. However, fossil species have been found dating back 23 million years.
There are over 70 species of hydrangea with over 600 cultivars. This can be broken down into five types, Macrophylla, Smooth, Panicle, Oakleaf and Climbing. Macrophylla are most common, known for their large leaves and rounded dense blooms.
Hydrangeas prefer to be in moist soil, in dappled shade. Avoid south-facing spots, as this can quickly dry out the soil of potted plants.
The colour of the flowers is dependent on the PH of the soil.
