The Kentia Palm or Howea forsteriana is a stunning indoor palm tree, and is one of our most popular and favourite plants. With sweeping architectural, dark green fronds this classic plant is the perfect way to bring a lush, tropical and exotic vibe into your home. Kentia palms are hardy plants that can tolerate some neglect and a wide range of conditions making them one of our most versatile plants. What's more they are also pet friendly and air purifying superstars!
Height is measured from the bottom of the plastic nursery pot (please allow a +/-10% variance). Diameter is the nursery pot diameter, so to get a pot that fits, the pot diameter should be bigger.

About Kentia Palm
The Kentia Palm is endemic to a tiny piece of land off the coast of East Australia called Lord Howe Island, giving this tropical Palm its botanical name Howea forsteriana. Following the export of its seeds from Lord Howe in the 1870s the Kentia Palm became a very popular indoor plant in Europe during the Victorian era when people began to avidly collect exotic palms in their homes.
Kentia Palms prefer warm and humid conditions but they can cope in cooler, drier conditions too, tolerating temperatures as low as -5°C. They are extremelly versatile plants that can adapt well to a wide range of growing conditions. Kentia palms can grow up to 30 feet tall in the wild, but they are slow growing plants that will take up to 5-10 years to grow their full height as a houseplant of around 6-10 feet. Kentia palms are propagated by seed, and all of the seed are still imported from Lord Howe Island so that authenticity and quality is guaranteed.
Kentia Palms can tolerate a little neglect and are relatively low maintenance, making them very popular houseplants. Although they can withstand low light conditions and cooler temperatures they will thrive in a bright spot out of direct sunlight. Brown leaf tips are a sign of too little watering, overheating or a lack of humidity. Be careful to never overwater your Kentia palm or let its roots sit in water.
Queen Victoria was a Kentia Palm advocate, cultivating them in all of her royal residences and demanding they be planted around her coffin when she died.
This plant is non-toxic so although not advised should pose no harm if accidentally chewed or eaten by your furry friends.
