About Christmas Cactus Pink
The epiphytic Christmas Cactus originate from Brazil, in cooler mountainous regions near the coast. It was first introduced to the Northern hemisphere 200 years ago.
The main growing period is between April-September. Keep the soil moist but not wet during this time and maintain an average temperature between 12-15°C. During Autumn and Winter, feed monthly to encourage healthy blooms throughout the festive period.
Moving a Christmas Cactus around when it is bud will cause it to shed its blooms, keep it in one place once the buds start to swell. If needed, move when the buds are still small. Due to their coastal origins, they prefer a humid atmosphere. Try misting the plant or placing it on a tray of pebbles and water to recreate its natural environment.
In Brazil, the Christmas Cactus is more commonly known as Flor de Maio, The May Flower, due to its differing flowering time.
This plant is non-toxic so although not advised should pose no harm if accidentally chewed or eaten by your furry friends.
