Known for their colourful flowers and unusual shape, anthurium plants, also known as flamingo flowers, would be a beautiful addition to your plant family. Having come from tropical origins, they adore warm and humid conditions, along with bright (but indirect) sunlight. What’s more, they come in different colours, meaning you can choose one to match the interiors of your home. Each one is more colourful than the last, and if cared for properly, will become a longstanding fixture in your room.
Our Range of Anthurium Plants
Adding a splash of colour to your home, the flamingo flower blush has beautiful palette-like leaves and peach coloured flowers that bloom for much longer than conventional cut flowers. Small touches can really help to keep your plant healthy, like wiping down its leaves to remove dust and misting to ensure it remains moist and glossy.
Looking for an even more vivid colour for the home? You won’t have to look any further than the flamingo flower pink. Unsurprisingly, the flowers are a deep pink colour, contrasting the yellow spikes and green foliage. This is the perfect flower as a gift for a loved one or friend, giving their home a vibrant splash of colour.
Much like the flamingo flower pink, the flamingo flower red (anthurium andraeanum ‘champion red’) also has dark coloured flowers and deep green foliage. Like the other anthurium plants, it enjoys a bright spot in the room, although away from direct sunlight as this can burn the leaves and make them become discoloured and damaged.
Caring For Your Flamingo Flower
Although anthurium plants like bright sunlight, they prefer a spot that is sheltered from direct sunlight, as this could scorch their leaves. Along with this, ensure you keep your plant away from cold or dry conditions (keeping them away from draughty windows during the winter), and mist them each day if possible to keep their leaves and flowers healthy. In terms of water and soil, you need to ensure that the top layer of soil dries out before topping it up, but it is key to make sure that the soil itself remains moist. Most importantly, during the winter, you should make sure that your anthurium doesn’t sit in standing water as this will overwater it and likely cause the roots to rot and the plant to die.
