About me
AKA: Calathea lancifolia
I’m the star of the party with dazzling wavy edge leaves, popping with green on top and a deep maroon beneath. I’m from Brazil so I love a bit of warmth and humidity and I know how to get the party going ;)
I love humid areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
Care instructions
Light:
- I like bright areas with either filtered light or a little shade – keep me out of the brightest direct light
Water:
- Keep the compost moist in spring – autumn; in winter let the compost dry out in between watering me
- I love humidity so mist me regularly (or use a tray of pebbles filled with water)
- Try to use filtered water, as I don’t like the chemicals in tap water
Food:
- Feed me once a month from spring to summer
Other:
- Give my leaves a wipe every so often
Common problems
Curling leaves:
- Underwatered or not enough humidity – give me a spray and a little bit of water for a few days until I look better
Yellow leaves:
- If lots of my leaves are turning yellow, be careful that I haven’t been overwatered, move me to a slightly warmer spot
Brown tips:
- Probably not enough humidity – mist me
Limp stem / droopy leaves:
- You could’ve overwatered me or it may be too cold. Check that my compost is not wet, and move me to a warmer spot
Toxicity
Not toxic to pets if ingested
