Areca Palm Plant Care

Learn All About Areca Palm Care with our Guide

Areca palm, also commonly called butterfly palm, is a tropical, flowering plant native to Madagascar. Being native to the tropics, areca palms are happiest in a bright spot, warm spot and enjoys extra humidity.

Caring for your Areca Palm

Areca Palms enjoy bright light and can handle some direct sunshine.

Soil & Nutrients

Areca Palms are heavy feeders and requires fertilising twice a year. You should feed your Areca Palm during the growing season, between May and August, using a liquid fertiliser diluted in water.

As a tropical plant (link to other tropical plants) the Areca Palm enjoys quite a lot of water. Do the finger dip test before watering to ensure you don’t overwater it, as this can lead to root rot. Wilting leaves and dry sign is a sign the plant is thirsty. But don’t worry, it will perk back up once it's been watered
